Mission
Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) offers person-to-person service to the poor and suffering living in our community. In doing this work, we all enrich our lives spiritually. The Christ the King conference was established in 1957 and is part of the Yakima Valley SVdP Council.
Christ the King Conference Overview
Home visits are the core of our work. We make home visits within our parish boundary serving Richland, West Richland and Benton City to offer support and compassion, as well as help with utilities, rent, furniture, gasoline, food, and other services. We usually go on home visits in pairs, to talk with neighbors wherever they may be. We strive to see the face of Christ in everyone we serve.
How to Request Assistance
Those in need can call the St. Vincent de Paul Helpline at 509-946-1325. Calls may be left on our call line anytime and will be responded to within 24 hours. Please do not call the church office to request assistance.
How You Can Support St. Vincent de Paul
- Join - We always welcome new members with fresh perspectives and open hearts, willing to respond to our neighbors in need. The time commitment is flexible. Each Vincentian decides how much they are able to participate. To get involved, or to ask questions, please contact the conference at 509-946-1325 or info@svdpck.org
- Attend Meetings - We meet on Tuesday every week at 6:30 PM to pray and reflect, share fellowship and report on our service to our friends in need and to discuss conference business.
- Donations – Most of the funding for the Christ the King conference comes from parishioner donations. One-time or recurring donations can be made on the Christ the King giving page. We are grateful for your support!
Society of St. Vincent de Paul
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a worldwide Catholic organization, founded in Paris in 1833, by Frederic Ozanam and a group of college friends who wished to live out their love of God by serving God in the persons of the poor. They chose St. Vincent de Paul, who devoted his life to the poor, as their patron.
